An event of special significance for the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA) took place on 14 February 2017. The launch of Ariane 5 flight VA235, was sponsored by the 2017 CVA Presidency, the city of Toulouse.
The launcher bearing the logo of the city of Toulouse, put into orbit two high-definition TV satellites produced in the Toulouse area: SKY Brasil-1 and Telkom 3S.
A delegation from Toulouse, headed by Mayor Jean Luc Moudenc, visited the Guiana Space Centre – Europe’s spaceport, witnessed the successful launch and planted the traditional CVA palm tree next to the Space Museum.
