The first Council of Mayors of the 2018 CVA Presidency, held by Les Mureaux, took place on 19-20 April 2018.

The programme started with a bus tour of Les Mureaux, followed by an ArianeGroup presentation and a visit to the construction site of the integration building for the main stage of the Ariane 6 launcher. A boat cruise on the Seine rounded off the first day.

The highlight of the meeting was Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI), the Italian space agency, formally joining the CVA, the third space agency to do so.

CVA members also welcomed the new Treasurer, R. Moisan, from the ArianeGroup.

Three future CVA Presidencies were ratified: in 2019 the city of Seville in partnership with Airbus Defence & Space; in 2020 the inter-communal structure Bordeaux Métropole teams up with ArianeGroup; and in 2021 the city of Colleferro with AVIO.

A CVA press release was issued after the meeting on the need to support European launchers.
